Jan 07, 2014

LOW-COST, POWERFUL COMPANION CHIP SHIPPING TO MULTIPLE GLOBAL TIER-ONE AUTOMOTIVE SUPPLIERS

SANTA CLARA, Calif., — January 7, 2014 — OMNIVISION Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: OVTI), a leading developer of advanced digital imaging solutions, today announced the immediate availability of OV480, an electronic distortion correction solution for wide field-of-view (FOV) automotive applications. The OV480 is a low-cost, compact companion chip that supports OMNIVISION’s AutoVision sensors to deliver best-in-class electronic distortion correction and significantly enhanced low-light performance. It is currently shipping to multiple global tier-1 automotive suppliers.

The OV480 can correct lens distortion of up to 195-degrees and enable a single camera design to be used across multiple vehicle platforms, thus dramatically reducing the design and integration costs associated with rear-view and 360-degree surround view systems. It provides top-down and perspective views to offer clear imaging for specific rear-view driving functions such as trailer ball hitching. Additionally, the OV480 supports a cross-traffic view feature, which allows drivers to view traffic from both sides of the vehicle.

The OV480’s compact form factor, highly competitive price point and wide range of image enhancement features position it at the forefront of electronic distortion correction solutions for automotive vision systems.
