VERSATILE OVM7699 AND OV7699 BRING HIGH QUALITY IMAGES AND VIDEO TO MAINSTREAM HANDSETS, NOTEBOOKS, WEARABLES AND SMART HOME DEVICES

SANTA CLARA, Calif., — July 30, 2015 — OMNIVISION Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: OVTI), a leading developer of advanced digital imaging solutions, today announced the cost-optimized and power-efficient OVM7699 CameraCubeChip® and OV7699 CameraChip™. Utilizing OMNIVISION’s OmniBSI+™ pixel architecture, the OVM7699 and OV7699 offer best-in-class VGA performance in the industry’s smallest footprint, making them ideal camera solutions for a wide range of applications, including feature phones, mainstream smartphones, notebooks, wearables and IoT devices, among others.

The OVM7699 is packaged in OMNIVISION’s proprietary CameraCubeChip® format, which is an easy-to-integrate and cost-effective complete camera solution for slim form-factor designs. The OV7699 is available in a traditional compact chip-scale package (CSP).

“These camera solutions are designed to be extremely versatile, bringing high quality images and video in compact and affordable packages. These two solutions are well suited to a wide range of applications in which cost, size or power consumption constraints can be key,” said Aaron Chiang, director of CameraCubeChip® marketing at OMNIVISION. “With the mobile phone markets currently booming in developing countries, and in light of the proliferation of advanced, vision-centric wearable and smart home devices, we view the OVM7699 and OV7699 as extremely well positioned to capitalize on potentially excellent market opportunities.”

The 1/13-inch OVM7699 and OV7699 utilize the latest 1.75-micron OmniBSI+ pixel architecture to deliver industry-leading signal-to-noise ratio, sensitivity, full-well capacity, and distortion correction. Both devices capture high quality VGA (640 x 480 pixel) resolution images and video at 30 frames per second (FPS).

The OVM7699 comes in a 2.1 mm x 2.1 mm CameraCubeChip® module with a z-height of approximately 2.3 mm, while the OV7699 comes in a 2.03 mm x 2.08 mm CSP. Both the OVM7699 and the OV7699 are currently available for sampling, and are expected to enter volume production in the first quarter of 2016.
