SAN JOSE, Calif. — November 18, 1996 — In a move to drastically lower the cost of COLOR video cameras, OMNIVISION Technologies today is announcing an NTSC/S-Video camera based on the most sophisticated CMOS mixed signal technology, integrating an image array together with signal processing, timing & control, and other special control functions combined into a single chip — for the first time — enabling all aspects of COLOR video camera applications at an unbelievably low price.
The OMNIVISION C3086 video camera is used in a myriad of applications including PC videoconferencing, multimedia applications, CCTV (Closed Circuit Television) applications, videophones, photographic, video database applications, and toys.
The C3086 offers unique benefits such as low power consumption, low cost, simple assembly, tiny footprint, together with consistent image quality. With a patented fixed pattern noise and random noise reduction circuitry, the C3086 is able to reach greater than a 36 dB S/N (Signal to Noise) ratio.
“Again, OMNIVISION’s development efforts are addressing the specific needs of COLOR video camera applications and are delivering an integrated solution effortlessly enabling COLOR video cameras at a breakthrough price,” said Shaw Hong, OMNIVISION’s President and CEO. “We believe the C3086 will dramatically change the landscape for COLOR video camera applications, based on its overwhelming acceptance by leading COLOR video camera system integrators.
