OMNIVISION’s OV23850 is a high performance PureCel®-S 23.8-megapixel image sensor that bring DSC-like image quality and performance to flagship smartphones. The 1/2.3-inch OV23850 captures stunning ultra-high resolution images and video while enabling advanced digital imaging features.

The sensor utilizes OMNIVISION’s new stacked die technology which separates the imaging array from the image sensor processing pipeline into a stacked die structure. This enables additional sensor functionality, such as phase detection autofocus (PDAF), two-dimensional contrast fast autofocus and high dynamic range (HDR) video, while maintaining a much smaller footprint.

Supporting an active array of 5632 x 4224 pixels (23.8 megapixels) operating at 24 frames per second (fps), the OV23850 is the highest resolution image sensor currently available that captures images and video in a 4:3 aspect ratio.

The OV23850 outputs 16:9 format video of up to 4.5-megapixels operating at 60 fps, enabling clear video preview on smartphone displays. It is capable of recording quad high definition (QHD) video at 30 fps in HDR mode to enable ‘always on’ HDR preview mode. Additionally, the sensor supports 720p high definition (HD) video at 120 fps, and 1080p HD video at 90 fps for crisp, slow motion video recording.

The OV23850 fits into a 10.5 x 10.5 mm module with a z-height of 6.3 mm.
